Levittown is a larger hamlet and CDP in Nassau County, New York between Hempstead and Farmingdale.  It has nine neighborhoods and is the 18th largest community in the state and the 2nd largest in the county by population. Nearly 32% of all adults in the community  have four-year degrees or higher, which is well over the national education average. It is a family-friendly community with predominantly single family homes and high rates of homeownership, low crime rates and quiet streets which all combine give it an uncommon stability and cozy atmosphere.

In February of 1664, the Jerusalem Purchase granted rights for English settlers to settle in the area. John Seamen was the first European to live in the area that would become Levittown. March 1st, 1837 rail service came through nearby Hicksville and eased access to the area encouraging growth in the settlement. The town was founded in August of 1929 and is named for its founder and builder Abraham Levitt. It was a planned community and was built between 1947 and 1951 by Levitt&Sons Inc. It was the first mass-produced suburb and is a model example of the postwar suburban movement. On October 1st, 1947 the first 300 families moved into the newly built community and in January of 1948 it was officially named Levittown. As the first mass-produced suburb Levittown has a permanent place in American culture and history as well as at the Smithsonian where they keep a model of a Levittown home permanently on display.
