Herricks is a hamlet and CDP in the town of North Hempstead, in Nassau County, New York . It is an unicorproated community and is governed under the Town of North Hempstead. It is an urban neighborhood with all the conveniences of a big city. It is a wealthy compared to state and federal economic statistics. It is an ethnically and racially diverse community. Common ancestries include English, Greek, Asian and others. English remains the primary language, followed by Spanish, Gujarati and Chinese. It is a pedestrian friendly community. However, those that work outside the community face a long daily commute, on average about 45 minutes. Public transportation is available. It is a relatively old community named after Herrick’s Path, which was in use since the mid-1600s. The first school in the community was established in 1813. The community was home to one of the last one-room schools in all of Nassau County, which as in operation up until 1898. Like much of the area, Herricks grew slowly until after WWII, when a population and building boom changed the area forever. Today it is a thriving community that continues to exude and warm and stable atmosphere.

In 2000, the population was 4,076 and the population density was 7,284.4 people per square mile. Public education in the community is provided by the schools of the Herricks Union Free School District. Local schools include, Herricks High School, Herricks Middle School, Center Street School and others. Real estate in Herricks primarily consists of traditional single family structures.
