Atlantic Beach is a tiny, but affluent village in the town of Hempstead, New York. It is located on the south shore of Long Island in Nassau County. It is a beach-side community 21 miles from Manhattan which as one neighborhood and is one of the states smallest communities. It is a nautical community with a rich oceanfront history, breathtaking views and countless ways to have waterfront fun. It is quite popular as a location for summer homes. As such, part of its population is seasonal causing the population to swell during the summer months. It is a highly educated community where nearly 87% of all adults have four-year degrees or higher, which is more than twice the national education average. The village has high rates of homeownership, beautiful beachfront homes, quiet streets and low crime rates making it a solid, stable, family-friendly community. Many groups work together to make it safe community, including emergency services provided by the Long Beach Fire Department and ambulance service by Atlantic Beach Rescue as well as the Long Beach Fire Department. And lastly, law enforcement is provided by the Nassau County Police Department.

It spans one square mile half land area half water. It is a wealthy community compared to state and federal economic standards and definitively white-collar. Over 91% of the workforce of Atlantic Beach hold/work white-collar positions/professions. Uniquely over 9% of the workforce, works from home via telecommuting, freelance projects and home-based businesses. It is somewhat diverse in terms of ethnicity and race and English remains the primary language among residents, followed by Hebrew and Spanish. In 2010, the population was 1,891 and the population density was approximately 1,900 people per square mile. By 2013, the estimated median household income was $102,365 and the estimated per capita income was $81,322. In the same year, the estimated median house or condo value was $692,132, the mean price on all housing units was $521,906 and the median gross rent was $1,707.

Commuting is necessary as most of the workforce is employed outside the community. The average commute for residents of Atlantic Beach is approximately forty minutes. Public transportation is available and many rely on commuter trains for daily transportation. However, commuting in private vehicles remains the most popular solution. Two districts provide public education for the village, Lawrence Union Free School District and Long Beach City School District.
